The Planning & Community Development Department is the lead agency for both physical and economic development of the city. Staff reviews all residential and commercial development plans, all zoning and subdivision platting, and provides all long range planning for the city. Such plans deal with all elements of the physical design and development, which include historic preservation and urban design. The department also administers the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) grant programs for the city. Property maintenace inspections and code enforcement are administered through the department.
